MOR4Kids was created in 2011 after members of the Missoula Organization of REALTORS (MOR) recognized a growing need in Missoula’s school system. Kids are going to school hungry, without supplies, and without the proper clothing. These kids live in our neighborhoods and are friends with our children. In response to this need, we formed MOR4Kids. Since its creation, we have provided almost $100,000 in direct contributions to Missoula’s schools through gift cards given to the school's resource councelors, and over $150,000 in in-kind contributions of supplies. This innovative approach empowers those working directly with children to quickly direct the funds where they are needed most.
With the generous donations of our members, we have been able to provide clothing and school supplies and even cooking equipment for families in need to the resource rooms. The generous contributions of Missoula’s own Runner’s Edge, has provided high quality and almost new gym shoes to kids who never even dreamed of owning their own.
However, with the increased number of homeless and at-risk kids, its more important than ever that we show them just how much we care. We are working together to build a community that we can be proud of.
In 2017, one of our founders, Judy Gudgel, was nominated for the National REALTOR Magazine's Good Neighbor Award. Due to the often discrete nature of our giving, we don't hear directly from families about how the contributions help them. As letters of support for the nomination were gathered, it was beautiful to read how the contributions of our commuity had made a child's day; from clothing to the ability to participate in sports. All of it of possible, thanks to the support of people like you.
